Sleeping With Sirens Long Beach Concert reviews
Newsboys get all 5 stars...Rivals, not so much
The Sleeping With Sirens are still ROCKING hard, innovative as ever, and loud like a concert should be. I like the IDEA of using actual theaters & having a drama open the show. Very cool idea! I havn't seen the Sleeping With Sirens since Peter Furler. Nothing against Tait, I just counted it as the end of an era. We came to this show & I was blown away...and the lighting/video screens were phenomenal!
Nice IDEA, but not very good acting, and the whole lip syncing thing bothered me. Even with the bad acting, it might have done better as a flat out drama, not a musical. Then, I guess when the creator of the show came down from his tower before the last song to tell us "how good the next song was going to be because the Sleeping With Sirens liked it"...it just seemed kinda arrogant. The takeaway message was good, but it was kinda overshadowed by the huge focus on the songs which were just...meh. Rivals:
One thing my wife and I agreed on was that AFTER Rivals, the Compassion pitch, and the intermission (which they could have broke down the Rivals set during the Compassion pitch), we both felt like it was over...the end of the night. The show up until that point left us feeling like there wasn't still a rock concert coming up. Luckily, the Sleeping With Sirens totally blew us away!!!
